Deemed 'unique as an improvising tap dancer' by OliverWeindling of the Vortex Jazz Club, Petra Haller starts off her week of concerts with a Jazz Trio, consisting of Piano, bass, and tap dance.
Tap dance developed as a musical form parallel to and through jazz music, sharing elements of swing, improvisation, rhythmic phrasing, and motifs, so needless to say, Haller wanted to start off her concert series with a night featuring standards and tunes by her favourite composers, such as Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus, and Duke Ellington.
Instrumentation: Piano, Double Bass, Tap Dance
During her one-week run at National Opera Studio, Petra will show the breadth of her work in genres from Jazz standards to Avant Garde.
